Paradigm Shift
Inspired by Dali and using a combination of compositing and digital painting techniques, I channeled the unconscious to surface as a surreal style of expression exploring the contemporary southern experience.
If the top 20 Hip-Hop albums (plus 5 honorable mentions) from between 1990-1999 were re-imagined as movies... what would the movie posters look like?
"Flight" was an exhibit that showing at the Aviation Community Cultural Center in Atlanta, GA from December 2015 until January 2016 with 4 other artists. We were tasked w/ expressing our interpretation of "Flight". I chose to update the famous Egyptian tale of Horus,Queen Isis & Set (Seth) in a modern urban setting that includes elements of Graffiti - present day hieroglyphics. Some of the pieces will simulate movement through the use of images, texture and digital creations through the art form of composites. Here are the 3 pieces I contributed to the Flight Exhibit.
The client, my wife. She was inspired by the Hip-Hop Movie Poster series I was working on at the time and asked if I could do something similar for The Wiz. She's a huge fan of The Wiz and had the bright idea of re-casting it w/ more recent celebrities
